For the final in our set design studio, we were tasked to create a brand activation pavilion for a festival. We were allowed to choose the brand and festival we wanted to create the experience for, and I chose ‘Lego’ and ‘All Things Go’ music festival. This was probably the most fun I’ve had on a project. I was stuck at the beginning of the project because I was overcomplicating what was mainly a pavilion for children, teens, and young adults. I didn't want to make the pavilion a rectangle because I felt like it would be “boring”. But after one-on-one talks with my professor, he reminded me my design was based off Lego blocks, which usually are rectangular, and that gave me the inspiration and clarity I needed to push forward with this project.

On the 36'x60' lot, I designed a pavilion inspired by the colors and adaptability of Legos. I added pushes and pulls on both the interior and exterior walls that allowed niches for displays, windows, and seating opportunities. On the inside, there were many opportunities for fun, whether it be the central Lego mini-fig station, the Lego mosaic photobooth, the 12' tall Lego ‘graffiti’ wall, or whether you're shopping for a ATG stage Lego kit or a headliner keychain. There was also a marketing aspect to this project that excited me and I decided to take it to the max. I included Lego figurines of the festival headliners in the design, designed the ad for the pavilion at the bottom of the page, and designed my boards for the project as if this was an actual pitch for the pavilion to be featured at the festival.
