In the fall semester of our fourth and fifth years at LSU, we get to choose between option studios between architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. I got to take a set design studio, and our midterm project was designing drawings for a set based of the 1927 German sci-fi movie 'Metropolis.' My set was based off the eternal gardens, which was a room where the rich and elite all hang out and look over the city where the poor are enslaved and work in the factories. The space was meant to portray opulence, nature, but also deception. Most of the design was taken from descriptions in the script, but the rest was up to my own interpretation.
